Spanner eyes America Has Got Talent Show

 Malawian food lover Austin ‘Spanner’ Awali says he has set his eyes in showcasing his skills at the global America Has Got Talent Show.

His remarks come after he emerged winner in an eating competition in Nigeria where he won K21 million after defeating four challengers in a week-long competition.

Spanner says he is now eyeing the global spot to show the world what Malawians are.

“I think I have done my part here in Africa. It is now time to hit global heights. I want to take Malawi to the world. My sights are set on showcasing my talent at the America Has Got Talent Show now,” said Spanner.

On his exploits in Nigeria, Spanner said he was thankful to all individuals and companies whose support enabled him to participate in the competition. He said his win is dedicated to them and all Malawians.

He said: “I am grateful to all Malawians who have helped get get this far. Together, we have raised the Malawian flag high. Now, everyone in

 Nigeria knows about Malawi. Even in the whole of Africa.”

His trip to Nigeria nearly failed due to financial constraints until socialite Cha Cha, CE Electronic and Rhodrick Junaid Kalumpha came to his rescue by financing his return air ticket.

Spanner has of late become a sensation following his exploits in eating competitions, having defeated opponents from Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Senegal and Nigeria.

He was invited to Nigeria to

 participate in the competition following his increasing popularity in eating competitions.

Commenting on a Facebook post, one of his followers, Ethel Phiri said Spanner needs to be given the necessary support so that he can soar higher.

She said: “We don’t do well in many fronts internationally. At least Spanner is leading the way in his skill. He needs to be supported and appreciated for raising the Malawian flag. We need more of such exploits.”
